Writer E. Jean Carroll will finally receive the $5 million, plus interest, that a federal jury awarded her in 2023 after finding President Donald Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation. A federal judge ordered the release of the funds, which remained held in an account controlled by the court while the legal appeals presented by the president continued.
The New York Times detailed that the decision comes after the Supreme Court refused to review Trump's appeal related to the 2023 ruling, leaving the verdict firm.

Although the court authorized the disbursement of the money, Donald Trump's lawyers immediately filed a new appeal to try to prevent the funds from being transferred to Carroll.
According to the aforementioned media, the defense also asked the Supreme Court to reconsider its refusal to review the case and asked that the money remain under judicial protection until there is a new resolution.
