The Department of State works closely with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to combat birth tourism and protect the integrity of the U.S. immigration system.

To maximize the success of this comprehensive effort, the Department of State has created a Maternity Tourism Prevention Task Force.

This group reviews the activities of visa holders around the world to identify cases of birth tourism, take steps to revoke the visas of those who participate in or facilitate it, and dismantle networks that profit from this abuse.

According to a statement, the Task Force addresses abuse by analyzing and connecting information available across the Department and other federal agencies, including DHS.

This is tackling maternity tourism on a global scale, examining the travel histories of people around the world to put an end to this exploitation and abuse.
