The July 4 celebrations exceeded President Donald Trump's expectations of organizing an event to be remembered for many years, as the celebration of the day that commemorated 250 years of the country's founding featured a masterful fireworks display, thanks to which a Guinness record was set.
The White House noted that the “largest fireworks display” seen in the United States to illuminate Washington's night sky with different shades of color became something never seen before, as it involved the launching of 840,537 fireworks.
Through a statement, Danielle Álvarez, spokesperson for Freedom 250, praised the dedication of Pyoreotecnico, the company in charge of putting on the show and also thanked the recognition granted by the global company Guinness World Records.
“It transformed the sky over the nation's capital into a dazzling tribute to 250 years of American freedom.
This record is a reflection of the immense pride with which the American people faced this milestone (that of its founding). Each of those 840,000 fires was a tribute to the generations that preceded us and a reminder that our best chapters are yet to come,” the letter states.
It should be noted that Freedom 250, a public-private alliance created by the Donald Trump administration to organize and sponsor commemorative events for the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, has been surrounded by controversy.
Despite having scheduled a full agenda of commemorative events to take place in the nation's capital, some had to be readjusted or even canceled, as some of the celebrities invited to participate later chose to refuse to do so because they felt used for a political purpose.
In any case, Republican Party supporters took on the task of congregating at events such as the Great State Fair held on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
