President Donald Trump went from surprise to punishment when he unveiled the most recent number of deaths caused by the disputed war between Russia and Ukraine.
During a meeting with some journalists held in the White House garden, the head of the nation expressed his concern over the increase in deaths during the few more than four months since the Russian army invaded Ukrainian territory.
“Last month 25,000 people died in the war between Ukraine and Russia, okay? by 25,000. The previous month, 32,000 people were killed... mostly soldiers, 97 percent. But think about it: 32,000 people, whether soldiers or civilians. What a pity!” he said.
To measure the number of joint deaths occurring in just 30 days between Russians and Ukrainians fighting each other, hypothetically placing the bodies on the ranks of an average football stadium, the tribunes of the CSKA Arena, located in Moscow, with a capacity for 30,000 fans, or the Shakhtar Stadium, built in Donetsk, with a capacity of 31,718 spectators, would be filled.
Such an image would be shocking for most of the world. However, because Russia and Ukraine remain practically isolated fighting in a conflict that only their rulers understand, most nations far away from Europe tend to see with some degree of indifference those who daily lose their lives wearing a military uniform whether manufactured in Moscow or Kiev.

The point is that while that pair of countries continue to attack each other, in the first instance the number of people cultivating the land in Ukraine is reduced and therefore the production of corn, wheat and barley, which was previously exported from the so-called “Granero del Mundo” to Europe, Africa and the Middle East, has been coming months without causing wreckage or heating of grains.
After all, such an anomaly will end up generating a greater crisis than the emergence of a shortage of fuel flowing from the Middle East.
Preoccupied by the situation, Donald Trump acknowledged he had talked with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as with President Vladimir Putin, asking them both to end the war as soon as possible.
“I’ve talked a lot with him, and both he and Putin agree. And someday, fortunately in a not too distant future, before the crude winter, they will come to an agreement. I want him to come to an agreement with Putin, and I want Putin to come to an agreement with him,” he said.
