The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of over 80,000 rechargeable hand heaters due to a potential overheating hazard that may lead to fires.

The federal agency issued a warning, stating that lithium-ion batteries and electrical components in recalled hand heaters may overheat and cause burns, posing a significant risk of serious fires and severe burn injuries.

As of the current reporting period, there have been no reported injuries associated with the product in question. The voluntary product withdrawal encompasses the following:

Hand heaters are available in two-unit packages, featuring USB-C charging ports for their integrated lithium-ion batteries. The devices also come equipped with adjustable temperature settings, a silicone cord, and LED light indicators for enhanced functionality.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a warning advising consumers to discontinue use of the product and contact the manufacturer to arrange for a refund. Additionally, consumers are cautioned against disposing of the heaters in household trash, as this poses a risk of fire.

Lithium-ion batteries withdrawn from the market pose a heightened risk of fire and should be disposed of separately from other batteries. According to available information, the municipal hazardous household waste collection centre (RHP) may accept these batteries or devices for proper disposal.
