The largest U. S. retail chain, Walmart, recently announced that it would increase its payment options and customers would be able to use Apple Pay and another smart devices when making purchases.

According to the company's announcement, this adjustment will come into effect next Monday, August 24. "Everything is reduced to offering customers and members more options and to make daily purchases a little easier, from how they manage their money to how they pay in the box," the retailer said in the statement.

The new smart payment system, according to Walmart, will be used in all stores nationwide, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other technologies that already have a digital payment method.

The retail string is using the online payment system, which is a modern wallet of the company that is run using a QR code, to allow its customers to use their Walmart Pay system, which is an integrated digital wallet into a mobile app.

Customers can use their digital balances to pay with this payment system because they don't need their actual cards to make purchases at Walmart. Additionally, the app sends digital payment proof.

But Walmart will not be the only one to use this method of payment; the Sam’s Club price club chain also plans to implement the system by the end of 2026 in stores and by 2027 for gas stations, after many customers complain that they could not use Apple Pay in these retailers when it already works in other stores.
