A Florida influencer and real estate investor and her husband were arrested over the Fourth of July weekend after authorities accused them of leaving their two young children alone in a hotel room while they stayed at the resort's pool consuming alcoholic beverages.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported that Allison Sirica Cannella, 40, and Brian Nicholas Cannella, 43, both residents of Delray Beach, face two counts of child neglect, one for each child.

Hotel employees alerted the authorities

The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the Reefhouse Resort & Marina in Key Largo.

According to authorities, hotel employees entered the room after hearing a baby crying for a long time without any adult responding.

Inside the room they found two small children alone in cribs. Hotel staff later located the parents in the pool area.

The investigation, based on security camera recordings, witness statements and other evidence, determined that the minors were left unsupervised for between 40 minutes and an hour.

The children were left in the custody of an acquaintance

Authorities notified the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), while the minors were temporarily released to a family friend until child protection workers arrived.

The Sheriff's Office said none of the children suffered serious injuries.

The case contrasts with the public image of the influencer

The arrest has attracted attention because Allison Cannella projects an image on social media linked to the luxury real estate market, property remodeling and the lifestyle in Florida.

Her private Instagram account identifies her as a lawyer and real estate investor and promotes renovation projects, vacation rentals, and interior design.

Exhale Vacation Rentals informed Fox News Digital that Cannella does not own or operate the business.

Likewise, a biography published by her current employer indicates that she has more than 15 years of experience in real estate and corporate law, has participated in real estate transactions valued at more than $25 billion and currently serves as senior vice president and general counsel.

Next hearing

Both were taken to the Monroe County Jail after their arrest.

According to court records, his first court appearance is scheduled for September 1. So far, the authorities have not reported statements from the accused about the events.
