Woman in Texas brutally attacked her partner with a hammer and left him to die in a Church
A 32-year-old woman was charged with first-degree murder in the death of her partner, a 64-year-old man found in a church in San Antonio
Texas authorities charged Abigail Molina, 32, with first-degree murder, as well as theft and tampering with evidence, in the death of her partner, Gilbert Parker, 64, who was found unconscious inside a church in China Grove, east of San Antonio. Antonio.
According to court documents, Parker's body was found on January 18 in a tool shed located on the grounds of the Old Path Baptist Church, a space that had allegedly been converted into his living quarters. The man was partially undressed and covered in what appeared to be dried blood.
Head injuries and death days later
Witnesses alerted emergency services after finding Parker severely injured. The man was taken to a local hospital and later to another medical center, where he drifted in and out of consciousness and was unable to communicate. He died on January 20.
The autopsy revealed that Parker had multiple lacerations to his head, one of which fractured his skull and caused a brain hemorrhage, according to the case affidavit.
Attempted Cover-Up
A day after Parker was hospitalized, Molina contacted local police and claimed he “had nothing to hide,” stating that the altercation had been an act of self-defense. However, the subsequent investigation contradicted that version.
Officers discovered that the victim’s cell phone, wallet, and pickup truck—a 2002 Dodge Dakota—were missing. The pickup truck was located near the home of someone close to Molina. According to authorities, the accused allegedly attempted to sand and paint the vehicle, remove bloodstains at a car wash, and ultimately sell it for $300 in Houston. The investigation gained momentum after receiving anonymous tips. One person claimed that an argument between the couple at a tobacco shop days before the discovery of the body escalated to homicide. Another call indicated the location where the weapon was allegedly disposed of.
Investigators recovered a construction hammer missing one claw, a characteristic that, according to experts, matches the injury to the victim's skull.
A former boyfriend of Molina told police that she called him on January 15, crying and asking for help. During the conversation, she allegedly recounted that Parker had beaten her, that she lost control, and that she repeatedly attacked him with the hammer.
Molina was arrested on Thursday and remains in custody while the legal proceedings continue. Authorities are also investigating the possible tampering with the crime scene after church members allegedly cleaned up blood and removed the deceased's personal belongings.
Gilbert Parker was remembered in his obituary as a “man full of life and music.”
