Tom Holland finished filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Director Destin Daniel Cretton praised the actor's
Everyone's favorite wall-crawler is one step closer to returning to the big screen. Last Saturday, December 20, director Destin Daniel Cretton officially announced the end of filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the highly anticipated fourth installment starring Tom Holland. Through an emotional Instagram post, Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi, described the production as the “biggest and most rewarding” film of his career. The filmmaker shared photos with Holland and the crew, dedicating special words to the 29-year-old actor for his “generous leadership on and off the set,” as well as his tireless work ethic and “fearless performances.” The production, which began in August of this year in Glasgow, Scotland, was not without its challenges. Filming had to be briefly halted in September because Holland suffered a mild concussion during an action scene. However, the actor recovered quickly, returning to the set in October to complete the ambitious sequences that promise to revitalize the saga after the events of No Way Home (2021). Although plot details remain under wraps, the return of Jacob Batalon and Jon Favreau has been confirmed. Additionally, Zendaya—who got engaged to Holland in real life this year—will reprise her role as MJ, despite her character losing her memories of Peter Parker in the previous film. The cast is further strengthened by new additions such as Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Liza Colon-Zayas (The Bear). Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters on July 31, 2026, solidifying a high-impact summer for Holland, who will also premiere The Odyssey just two weeks prior.
