Federal authorities intercepted ten Colombian citizens at the Guadalajara International Airport who entered Mexico with irregular documentation and who allegedly had been recruited through false job offers linked to organized crime groups.

The detention occurred during immigration reviews carried out by personnel from the National Migration Institute (INM), with support from elements of the National Guard and the Mexican Army.

According to the first reports, the foreigners arrived in the country on different flights from Colombia.

During the interviews carried out by the authorities, the Colombians indicated that they had been contacted to work in Mexico, according to the weekly newspaper Zeta.

However, they later acknowledged that they received financial and logistical support from people allegedly related to a criminal organization.

According to preliminary investigations, the recruiters made deposits of around a thousand dollars on international bank cards to cover travel expenses.

In addition, they reserved accommodation for a week in hotels located near the New Bus Station in Guadalajara, using false identities.

None of the detainees had a clear explanation about the activities they would carry out in Mexican territory.

The case adds to various investigations opened in Jalisco into recruitment schemes through deceptive job offers, a modality that criminal groups have used to recruit people both inside and outside the country.

After their arrest, the ten Colombian citizens were under the protection of the immigration authorities, while the corresponding investigations are carried out to determine if they were victims of deception or if there is any responsibility related to criminal activities.
