The White House sparked a new controversy on social media after posting a video that uses scenes from popular movies to justify the war against Iran. The clip, titled “Justice American Style,” blends cinematic images with a political message amidst growing public scrutiny of the conflict in the Middle East. The video, released on official platforms, features a montage of scenes from productions such as Tropic Thunder, Braveheart, Top Gun: Maverick, and the series Better Call Saul. The images are accompanied by emojis of the American flag and fire, while at the end, the iconic voice from the Mortal Kombat saga is heard saying “Victory flawless.” The clip closes with a message mentioning the White House and President Donald Trump Jr. The post went viral within hours, generating a wave of criticism. Many users questioned the use of cinematic references to address a real conflict involving military operations and geopolitical tensions. The controversy even reached Hollywood. Actor and director Ben Stiller, star and co-writer of Tropic Thunder, publicly reacted to the use of a scene from the film in the video. The scene features Tom Cruise playing the eccentric film executive Les Grossman. Stiller directly requested that the clip be removed. "Hello White House, please remove the Tropic Thunder clip. We never gave you permission and have no interest in being part of your propaganda machine," he wrote on social media. He then added a phrase that went viral: “War is not a movie.” The film, released in 2008, is a satire about a group of actors who, while filming a war movie, unwittingly become trapped in a real combat situation. So far, the White House has not publicly responded to the criticism nor confirmed whether it will remove the video.
