The influential conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, one of Donald Trump's main media allies during the 2024 presidential campaign, announced that he will promote the creation of a third political party in the United States, after breaking with the president over differences over foreign policy and the direction of the Republican Party.

The information was published by the Columbia Journalism Review (CJR), where Carlson assured that he no longer feels represented by the two main parties in the country and that he will work to build a new political alternative, although he ruled out seeking elected office.

Carlson criticizes Republicans and Democrats

During the interview, Carlson stated that both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party have stopped offering clear differences on key issues such as war, finance and immigration policy.

"That's not a democracy. It's a one-party state masquerading as a democracy, and we have to put an end to that. A third party is going to emerge, and I'm going to do everything I can to make that happen," Carlson declared.

The former television host maintained that his new project would defend policies aligned with the “America First” agenda, including toughening immigration, a position that he has maintained for years and that has been questioned by various specialists and economists.

The rift with Trump deepens

The rift between Carlson and Trump became evident after the president's support for the United States military offensive against Iran, a decision that the commentator considered incompatible with the promise to avoid new conflicts abroad.

Carlson revealed that since the beginning of that episode he has not spoken to Trump again.

“I'm not interested in talking to him,” he said during the interview.

Although speculation arose in recent weeks about a possible presidential run, Carlson denied any intention to run for public office.

"I am not a politician. I am not Trump's rival for power. I have no power," he said.
