ICE agent who killed woman in Minneapolis identified
Court documents reveal the identity of the immigration officer who shot Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis
Jonathan E. Ross was identified as the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent who fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good during an immigration raid in Minneapolis, according to court records.
He is a 10-year veteran agent with experience in operations and deportations for the immigration agency in Minnesota.
Although federal authorities have so far refused to identify the agent, the Minneapolis Star Tribune identified Ross for the first time this Thursday.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) also refused to involve Minnesota law enforcement in the investigation into Good's murder, leading Governor Tim Walz to question the investigation.
“Now that Minnesota has been excluded from the investigation, it seems very difficult for us to get a fair outcome,” Walz said. “I say this only because people in positions of power have already passed judgment, from the president to the vice president and [Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem, who has said things that are verifiably false.”
The death of Good, a mother of three, sparked outrage in Minneapolis and across the country.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has not officially released the identity of the agent involved in the shooting.
However, several videos of the shooting, widely circulated on social media, show Good attempting to turn her red SUV around and try to leave the scene, while a federal agent tries to force open the passenger door.
Another agent is standing in front of the vehicle, and as soon as the SUV moves forward, he fires once, then at least twice more.
The pickup truck ends up crashing into a parked car.
The Star Tribune report—based on court documents—indicates that Ross was involved in the June arrest of Roberto Carlos Munoz, an undocumented Mexican immigrant with a conviction for sexually assaulting his 16-year-old stepdaughter in 2022.
Munoz was in his car when he was about to be arrested,But he did not obey orders to exit the vehicle. When they tried to remove him through a window, Munoz accelerated and injured Ross, identified as such in the lawsuit. The immigrant was later arrested and convicted of assaulting a federal agent. Vice President JD Vance stated that the agent enjoys “total immunity” for Good's murder, while Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem accused the mother of three of committing “an act of terrorism.”
