The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office announced Tuesday that it will move forward with the lawsuit filed against Airbnb after a court rejected the company's request to file the legal action.

Metropolitan Prosecutor Hydee Feldstein Soto's office filed the lawsuit last year after alleging that the platform illegally increased the rental prices of at least 2,600 properties during the wildfires that occurred in January 2025.

In rejecting Airbnb's attempt to dismiss the lawsuit, the Court held that the prosecutor's complaint adequately alleges that the company violated California's price gouging law and the Municipal Code by advertising and charging illegal prices during the declared emergency.
