Pool season in Los Angeles begins with community event

With the “Splash ‘n’ Dash” 5K/1K race at the Hansen Dam Aquatic Center, scheduled for this Sunday, June 14, the city of Los Angeles' summer pool season begins.
The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks (RAP) announced Thursday that the June 14 event combines a family-friendly race with free water activities, water safety education and public access to the largest recreational pool in the country.
The program begins with the “Splash ‘n’ Dash” 5K/1K race, followed by a pool party and community resource fair with swimming lessons, kayaking, paddleboarding and other water activities sponsored by RAP's PlayLA Youth and Youth Adaptive Sports program.
