US President Donald Trump has made the decision to proceed with the execution of Nidal Hasan, who was convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, without live broadcasting the event. This decision follows a significant backlash from the public and politicians in response to initial plans to allow a public broadcast of the procedure.
Former President Trump stated in a post on Truth Social that while he believed releasing the footage could serve as a deterrent against terrorism, there were also individuals who did not wish to view the execution of the convicted individual.
The individual stated that the planned execution by shooting will proceed as scheduled, but the event will not be televised live.
On November 5, 2009, Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army Major, committed a heinous act of violence at Fort Hood in Texas, resulting in the deaths of 13 individuals, including a pregnant soldier and her unborn child. Thirty-two others were seriously injured in the incident.
