A woman in California has been sentenced to between 36 years and life imprisonment for killing her wife, a captain of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), in 2025.
Yolanda Olejniczak, 54, was convicted last month of second-degree murder for killing Rebecca Marodi, 49, on February 17, 2025 at the victim's residence in Ramona, northwest of San Diego, the county district prosecutor's office said in a statement.
“This is the brutal murder of a respected and devoted fire captain who devoted her entire career to serving her community,” said San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan.
