Police are searching for a personal trainer who was last seen leaving a gym in South Carolina last week.

Elena Katherine Moore, 39, was reported missing on Friday, June 12, a day after she was seen leaving a Planet Fitness gym in Lexington, police said in a statement. NBC affiliate WIS reported that Moore checked into the gym around 6:40 p.m. local time.

According to ABC News, Moore, a personal trainer at Wolf's Fitness Center a few miles away, was seen walking toward a wooded area behind a Lowe's Home Improvement store near the gym.

Inspector Missy Silcox of the Lexington Police Department stated, through said medium, that it would be “very unusual” for Moore to disappear in this way.

The department deployed a drone to the area, and on Monday, June 15, officers searched the area with the assistance of other law enforcement and emergency authorities operating in the region, according to the release.

“This was not a search operation, but rather a precise effort to rule out one less place where Ms. Moore could be,” police explained.

Speaking to WIS on Monday night, Silcox said it was Moore's husband who reported her missing and that police do not yet suspect foul play or believe she is in imminent danger.

He added that police believe Moore had a phone with him, but that it had no signal.

"We're hoping to get leads," Silcox told ABC News. “Even the smallest clue could be crucial to solving this case.”
