The Department of Homeland Security ( DHS) will pay for a pair of tailored fits for each of the Secret Service agents in order to make them appear as uniform as possible in their clothing. Kristi Noem, DHS Secretary, made public her opposition to USSS agents wearing their own suits, causing a disparity between newly hired employees with more limited resources and those with more rank who had more money to spend on expensive matches. DHS spokesman Tricia McLaughlin stated in a speech to The Hill that the measure aims to address the rank gap among USSS people. This addresses an injustice by requiring non-uniformed graduates to pay for their uniforms while providing them to the standard division. This aims to reduce financial stress when these men and women are merely beginning their careers with the Secret Service and serving our nation, she stated. The protective brokers may receive two navy blue suits with the agent's name embroidered on the inside for use year-round. The suit must also comply with the 2009 Kissell Amendment, which forbids DHS from purchasing "uniforms and other garments from US manufacturers, with some exceptions," according to the Government Accountability Office. Due to the Democrats ' refusal to complete a spending costs, funding for DHS was squandered, and USSS officials are now working without pay because of its budget constraints. They are regarded as essential for protecting the safety of the buildings and the government staff they are entrusted with. One of Donald Trump's priorities has been to improve the USSS since his return to office on July 13, 2014, when a young student shot the New York billionaire while evading a security activity, blowing off portion of his right ear.
