Ty Cobb, former White House lawyer, denounces manipulation by Donald Trump before the elections
Ty Cobb assures that by firing the leadership of the Electoral Assistance Commission, Donald Trump has begun to manipulate the next elections
Ty Cobb, a former lawyer who worked for the White House from July 2017 to May 2018, claims that by firing the leadership of the Election Assistance Commission, President Donald Trump has allegedly begun to manipulate the electoral process to be held in November.
On Thursday, the nation's president removed Democrats Thomas Hicks and Benjamin Hovland, the last two Democratic candidates from the US Election Assistance Commission (EAC).
"On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as commissioner of the Election Assistance Commission is terminated effective immediately. Thank you for your service," indicated a dismissal email cited by the Reuters news agency.
This measure immediately triggered a reaction from Chuck Schumer, Senate Minority Leader, defining the decision as a “blatant attempt to take control of the elections” before voters cast their ballots.
During an interview with the MS NOW television channel, Ty Cobb warned about how harmful the intervention of the New York magnate to assume a role similar to that of an electoral referee is for democracy.
“The dissolution of the Electoral Assistance Commission (EAC) cannot be seen in any other way than as another attempt by one of the parties to try to assume part of the role of referee in the elections,” he said.
Immediately afterwards, the legislation expert urged citizens not to allow the head of the nation to carry out an alleged plan to install loyal people in key areas of the electoral process that will mark the path of his two remaining years to govern.
"Those forces are already in action. I don't think we can be optimistic about the elections, because they are manipulating the situation as they wish," he said.
Almost three months ago, Ty Cobb said he was convinced that the president was suffering from cognitive decline, which should not be overlooked.
"His vocabulary has been reduced. He has resorted to swearing and threats, completely impulsively, which suggests the absence of any frontal lobe control," he emphasized.
