The organization Autonomous Social Action Center-General Brotherhood of Workers (CASA-HGT) has called on immigrants and progressive forces in the United States to be an active and leading part of the National Consumer Boycott, which will take place during the first three days of May.

The fundamental purposes of this action are:

1. To join forces and demonstrate the resilience of the Latino people, especially its migrant sector, to contain the reactionary, cruel, inhumane, perverse, and fascist national campaign of arrests, imprisonments, and deportations by the Trump administration. 2. To bring back to the table of national political discussion the issue of drafting legislation in favor of legalizing undocumented immigrant workers and their families. That is, to raise the banner of unconditional general amnesty, which, after four decades of heroic struggle by immigrants, remains pending and at this moment seems to have been relegated to oblivion. It is relevant that a historic organization like CASA-HGT articulate this mass movement to promote immigration reform with a path to citizenship for undocumented workers. It is necessary to know what this organization is, its origins, its struggles, its achievements, and its commitment to our people. The legendary academic and social activist, Bert Corona, was a pillar of its founding in 1968, a year in which young people across most of the world—following the example of the Parisians—rebelled against the established order in their countries and unleashed movements to bring about profound changes in authoritarian government systems. That same year in Northern California, in the city of Berkeley, tens of thousands of students and workers erupted in massive marches and protests demanding an end to the imperialist war in Vietnam. Violent clashes erupted in the streets and universities between law enforcement, workers, and students. Unfortunately, many of these movements were met with bloodshed due to the repression they suffered, as happened in Mexico with the student massacre at the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Mexico City, perpetrated by the Mexican Army. This occurred 10 days before the start of the XIX Olympic Games in this nation, the first to be held in Latin America. The democratic aspirations of the Mexican people were drowned in such violence that the exact number of deaths that night is still unknown. It is in this context that CASA-HGT was born. Among its numerous achievements, the bridge it built to foster genuine unity between the Chicano (Mexican-American) and Mexican communities in this country stands out. With its unique assets, the product of nearly six decades of struggle, this institution is once again bursting onto the national political scene with a call for unity so that our community can be a pivot and lead to the success of the “72 Hours of Resistance” boycott. This call is for a people fed up with the kidnapping of workers by masked immigration agents who are responsible for the cruel separation of families and who use private prisons to detain and house up to half a million people without bail. This call to action is for all of us who refuse to accept that the enormous profits of the companies that own immigrant detention centers come from our tax dollars. This appeal is also directed to the workers who suffer from the mass deportation of essential workers and from the murders of innocent citizens and immigrants by ICE agents, and from the child trafficking perpetrated by donor-class pedophiles, reminiscent of the human trafficking of our African brothers and sisters during 300 years of slavery in the United States. If you feel overwhelmed by the lies and hatred expressed by the fascism that fuels the actions of Trump and his administration, with their blatant criminal acts, then take action by joining this 3-day consumer boycott taking place on May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2026, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Do not buy anything for 72 hours! Let's not buy! Let's celebrate! Let us express our collective unity, all immigrants and people of good faith and good character, and put an end to this political nightmare. Social action is the vehicle for achieving change, but we will only achieve it if we are united, because unity is the key to success. As immigration lawyers here in Los Angeles for the last 50 years, we can tell you that the legalization of all immigrants is the only real solution to the problem of undocumented workers. A general amnesty will solve all the problems and render Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) obsolete and dissolved. Let us begin now to demand this historic right, which we will undoubtedly achieve, because the cancer of hatred and racism does not last a hundred years. History doesn't lie. Democrats need to take note of this message, because their insensitivity to understanding the true scope of our demands, which they ignored when they had every opportunity to do so, like Obama, who had a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress and only lied to us when he said he would push for immigration reform in his first 100 days in office, is a clear example of deception. He tricked us, and now the majority of the nation is suffering the consequences of his lies, his demagoguery. Let's follow Spain's example, which legalized all its immigrants two weeks ago. Why? Because they know, like us, that immigrants (documented and undocumented) are an essential part of any economy. Just look at the world today. Let's take this first action! Join the boycott! Don't stop! From May 1st to 3rd! Spread the word! Let's end this government! Let's begin now! The sum of our will and actions will lead us to success, to immigration reform, and to the changes our nation urgently demands to dismantle the regressive framework of the night of terror into which Trump has plunged us. We will prevail!
