In a defamation lawsuit brought against Patrick Byrne, the founder of Overstock . com, one of the first major electronic retailers in the United States, Hunter Biden, the son of former president Joe Biden, will receive$ 1. 7 million in compensation.

The controversial Delaware prosecutor is accused of being a part of an reported$ 800 million bribery scheme fueled by Iran in exchange for the Democratic leadership to release$ 8 billion in previously frozen resources to the Tehran state.

The heir of the Democrat who ruled the country for four years filed a complaint against the business in 2023. He categorically refuted the claims made against him.

He "made, published, and repeatedly stated false and disparaging comments to the claimant to cause harm, harassment, and harm," it said.

After reviewing the arguments made by both parties, Stephen Wilson, the judge of the Central District of California, decided to support Hunter Biden and even through an order to pay him compensation after being told that Byrne had acted with "intentional deception" and a projected" conscious reject" for his right, actually encouraging his followers on social media to spread false information.

The judge wrote an order citing" the most plausible explanation is that the accused lacks trustworthiness, invents amazing and unbelievable stories to get media attention, and fabricated the defamatory story in question," according to a statement shared by Hunter Biden in a message published on platform X, previously known as Twitter.

The son of the former president of the country should be awarded one dollar in nominal damages as well as$ 1. 7 million in punitive damages, according to Judge Stephen Wilson's ruling.

We will be up in court if Mr. Byrne decides to do the same thing," as soon as possible," remarked Bryan Sullivan, Hunter Biden's attorney.

Although Patrick Byrne has the option to challenge the decision to the Supreme Court, it is not clear whether he will agree to pay the fine that was levied as a sentence.
