A Spanish man was given a maximum sentence of more than seven years in prison for threatening to murder a judge in Orange County who oversaw a child custody case involving his young brother.

Byrom Zuniga Sanchez, 34, a previous tenant of Laguna Niguel, was found guilty in a court filing in December 2025, according to a media release from the US Attorney's Office. In accordance with prosecutors, Zuniga Sanchez sent death threats to the judge between May and July 2023 and threatened to kill or hurt others, including additional court employees, attorneys, and law enforcement officials.
