Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny and the label Rimas Entertainment LLC face a new lawsuit in 2026 related to copyright and commercial misuse. The lawsuit was filed by Tainaly Y. Serrano Rivera, who is seeking $16 million in damages for the alleged unauthorized use of his voice in two of the artist's songs. According to information released by the EFE news agency on January 8, 2026, the lawsuit was filed on January 5 and states that Serrano Rivera's voice appears in the songs "Solo de mi," from 2018, included on the album "X100pre," and "EoO," from 2025, belonging to the album "Debi Tirar Mas Fotos," without any consent, financial compensation, or legal acknowledgment. According to the court document, the origin of the conflict dates back to a WhatsApp message sent by producer Roberto J. Rosado, known artistically as La Paciencia. In this exchange, Rosado asked Serrano Rivera to record the phrase: "Look, damn it, don't take away my reggaeton." The plaintiff agreed, but maintains that she was never informed about the actual use the recording would have or its subsequent commercial exploitation. “The purpose of the audio was never explained, nor was she informed that her identity would be used and commercially exploited,” the lawsuit states. Years later, the recording was first incorporated into “Solo de mi” and subsequently reused in “EoO.” What does the text say? The legal text states that these actions violate the plaintiff's rights, including her moral rights as an author, specifically the moral right of attribution, in accordance with current legislation in Puerto Rico. Furthermore, the claim is based on other legal principles such as the right to one's own image, the right to privacy, and unjust enrichment. In addition to financial compensation, Serrano Rivera requests the immediate cessation of the use of the recording in any present or future format. The lawsuit also includes the use of his voice in the concerts of the residency Bad Bunny performed last year at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, as well as his presence in promotional material and official merchandise. At the time the lawsuit was filed,"Solo de mi" had accumulated 389 million views on YouTube and more than 540 million streams on Spotify, while "EoO" surpassed 757 million streams on the same platform. So far, neither Bad Bunny nor his record label has commented on the matter. But, without a doubt, this is one of the most important years for the Puerto Rican artist, who will be the first artist to sing in Spanish on the Super Bowl stage, on February 8th.
