President Donald Trump asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate oil companies reluctant to lower the price of gasoline in all states of the country.

After the New York tycoon signed last week in Versailles a document with 14 points aimed at establishing the bases for a definitive peace agreement with the Islamic Republic and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, navigation traffic was reactivated in said waterway, eliminating the threat of worsening the oil shortage, mainly in markets in Asia and Europe.

Since this change, the price of gasoline has begun to drop globally, with the particularity that in some American cities this has not yet happened, presumably due to the resistance or slowness of some oil companies that refine, distribute and sell fuel, to set a lower price on fuel.

Through a publication shared on the Truth Social platform, Trump warned that the DOJ will begin to establish sanctions on companies that still manage the price of their fuel at higher levels than the average in the country.

"I have instructed the Department of Justice to begin investigating this immediately. Gasoline prices better start falling much faster than what I am seeing!" he stressed.

Trump even dared to call some companies linked to oil scams.

"Big oil companies are not lowering the price of gasoline in proportion to the drastic drop in the prices they pay for oil. Those prices are plummeting! In other words, they are ripping off consumers," he emphasized.

According to GasBuddy, the average price of a gallon of regular gasoline is listed at $3.90, which is nine cents less than last week's average.

During an interview with the “This Week” program, which is broadcast by the ABC News television network, Chris Wright, Secretary of Energy, warned that fuel prices will continue to decline.

"We have growing American production and booming production in Venezuela. We have the cooperation of all the other energy producers in the world. Therefore, I think Americans can expect energy prices to continue to fall," he said.
