Anderson Silva, former UFC middleweight world champion, asked for respect for Jake Paul for fighting Anthony Joshua, who knocked out the YouTuber in the sixth round last weekend at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

In the post-fight press conference, Silva stated that Paul did a good job against Joshua despite not having prepared enough and believes people need to give him the credit he deserves.

“I think Jake did an incredible job, you know, and the big responsibility was Joshua's, not Jake's. People need to respect Jake, you know, because imagine if Jake were a little bigger and had had more time to train for this fight. You know, I think Jake improved a lot. People need to respect him, and I'm not just saying that because I'm fighting here in the company (MVP Promotions), but it's because, you know, I mean, every fighter who steps into the ring deserves everyone's respect,” he said.

Remember that Anderson Silva faced Jake Paul in October 2022 in Arizona and was defeated by unanimous decision by the YouTuber. At that time, the American always showed respect for the Brazilian, as he had admired him since childhood.

In the fight with Anthony Joshua, Paul focused on running around the ring to avoid his opponent's powerful punches, so the first rounds were uneventful. Midway through the fight, the YouTuber-turned-boxer showed signs of fatigue, and that was his downfall. The Briton was able to connect with the American and knocked him down four times (twice in the fifth and twice more in the sixth). It was precisely in that round that Joshua finished Paul with a powerful right hand that fractured his jaw in two places. After the victory, Anthony Joshua declared that he wants to face Tyson Fury next, while Paul asserted that he will continue fighting and again called out Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. Jake Paul, 27, suffered his second career defeat, the first by knockout. The American YouTuber also has a record of 12 wins (six by knockout) and two losses. Anthony Joshua, 36, recovered from his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last September by defeating Paul. The Briton has a record of 29 wins, 25 by knockout, and four losses.
