During his participation in Mr. Verzace's podcast for The Ring magazine, the Mexican indicated that the current WBO monarch should first face Osleys Iglesias, IBF champion.

“I think they need to fight each other, and then I fight the winner,” Álvarez said in that space.

The man from Guadalajara argued that both fighters must earn their opportunity in the ring before demanding a direct fight against him.

The response of the British champion

Given these statements, Hamzah Sheeraz maintained a firm stance regarding the management of his sports career. In an interview with the specialized media talkSPORT Boxing, the boxer assured that no one will dictate the path he should follow in the division.

“I respect him, but not to the point where he tells me who I should fight before I face him,” Hamzah Sheeraz told the aforementioned source.

The boxer added that he will ignore outside comments to maintain focus on his own professional goals.

The super middleweight monarch stressed that a fight against the Mexican does not represent an obsession for his work team. explained Hamzah Sheeraz, if the confrontation does not materialize, this will not affect his planning in the draws.

"If the fight doesn't happen, to be honest, it won't matter to me. It won't bother me at all," said the English boxer. However, he acknowledged during the same intervention that reaching an agreement on this crossing would represent an additional advantage for his career.

The panorama of the super middleweight champions

The situation in the category presents different fronts for the current monarchs. It should be remembered that Hamzah Sheeraz previously rejected the IBF championship route, deciding to compete for the vacant WBO belt that he obtained by defeating Alem Begic.

This decision by the European fighter allowed Cuban Osleys Iglesias to capture the vacant IBF title, after defeating Pavel Silyagin by technical knockout. In this way, the unification scenario between the two appears as a real possibility at 168 pounds.

For his part, the boxer from Guadalajara maintains his sporting agenda defined for the coming months. The Mexican is preparing to face Frenchman Christian Mbilli on September 12, marking his return to official activity after recovering from elbow surgery.
