The ski resort in Sierra Nevada, California, reported Sunday afternoon in an upgrade that one of the two ski patrollers who were seriously hurt by an avalanche on Friday, December 26 at Mammoth Mountain, had passed away from his wounds.

The patroller, named Cole Murphy, 30, was collaborating with other associates to reduce avalanches when the incident took place in the Lincoln Mountain place about 7: 30 am, before mountain operations began. Murphy was rescued after being caught in the landslide and taken to a hospital nearby, but he later passed away from his injuries.
