Goodbye to low prices, this is how the new Galaxy Watch 9 will look

All variants of the new generation of Samsung's smart watch would increase in price compared to previous versions

Goodbye to low prices this is how the new Galaxy Watch 9 will look

Samsung seems determined that 2026 will be the year of “everything goes up” and the wallets of its fans will feel it in every corner of the portfolio. A recent leak revealed that the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Watch Ultra 2 will arrive with higher prices than their predecessors, and as if that were not enough, everything indicates that the brand's foldables will also follow that same upward trend.

Watches are also becoming more expensive

The source behind this leak is considered quite reliable within the tech ecosystem, and its data points to increases that are around 30 euros in almost all variants of the Galaxy Watch 9. The most basic model, the 40 millimeter one with Bluetooth, would cost 409 euros, while the version with an LTE modem would reach 459 euros. If you prefer the 44 millimeter case, the price with Bluetooth would be 439 euros and the cellular variant would reach 489 euros.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is not immune to this movement either and its price would rise to 749 euros, 50 euros more than its predecessor launched in 2024. The curious thing is that this model will only be available with LTE connectivity, so those who were looking for a cheaper option within the Ultra line will have to rethink their budget. These figures correspond to the European market, although they tend to be a good thermometer of what we will see in other regions when Samsung officially confirms prices at the Unpacked event in July.

It is worth mentioning that these wearables will be officially presented on July 22, so official confirmation is just around the corner. Meanwhile, the tech community is already beginning to speculate about whether these increases respond to real improvements in hardware or simply a general price adjustment throughout the industry.

Folding with higher labels

Rumors about the future Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 confirm that the price increase will not be limited to watches. According to the most recent leak, the Z Fold 8 Ultra with 256 GB would start at 2,199 euros, which is 100 euros more than the previous generation. The 512 GB version would reach 2,399 euros, with a jump of 180 euros, and those who want the top of the range with 1 TB of storage would have to pay 2,799 euros, an increase of 280 euros compared to the previous model.

What's interesting is that the standard Z Fold 8, without the Ultra suffix, would maintain its base price without significant changes, suggesting that Samsung is reserving the biggest economic hit for its premium range. This strategy is not entirely new for the brand, because already in 2025 the company surprised by freezing prices in markets such as the United States and South Korea to boost the adoption of folding products. However, this year everything indicates that that pause has come to an end.

A pattern that was already playing

These increases do not appear out of nowhere, because since the beginning of the year there was already talk of price adjustments in models such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy S25 Edge in South Korea. The trend seems to confirm that Samsung is restructuring its pricing strategy across almost its entire premium line, from smartphones to wearables, something that likely responds to the increase in component costs and global inflation that is hitting the entire technology industry.

For those who already had their sights on one of these devices, it may be worth purchasing ahead of time before the new official prices arrive. And for those who were still hesitating whether or not to wait for the next Unpacked, this leak could be just the push they needed to make a decision before July 22.
