Iran said on Monday it will not allow the United States to dictate the terms of the end of the war and warned other countries not to participate in the new U.S. economic campaign against the Islamic Republic.
“Iran will never allow the end of the war to be determined by the conditions of the aggressor,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagaei said in a news conference.
“Iran has not begun any war and has only defended its sovereignty and territorial integrity; therefore, the aggressor must be held accountable for his actions,” the diplomat added.
Bagaei also warned that countries that collaborate in the new U.S. economic pressure campaign against Iran will suffer consequences.
“The naval blockade of Iran is considered an act of aggression, and it has been warned that any collaboration with the illegal actions of the United States will have serious consequences,” he reiterated.
“Iran will never stand with its arms crossed in the face of this kind of action,” he said.
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced “the most devastating economic operation ever undertaken against any country,” in what he called “an economic day” against Iran to end a war that is approaching six months and reopen Hormuz.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will detail Washington's new economic measures against Iran, after announcing that the United States seeks to drive "the largest coordinated campaign of economic isolation in the history of the world."
Bessent has warned of economic consequences for countries that provide “any kind of vital aid to Iran” and pointed out that Washington intends to sanction, among other operations, money transfers and purchases of Iranian oil.
Iran has warned that it will consider as “enemy” countries that join the “economic war” of the United States against the Islamic Republic.
