In response to growing criticism for their negative impact on the environment, thousands of people are being called to a demonstration this Wednesday in Tirana against two contentious holiday projects on the coast of Albania related to President Donald Trump's family.

Tens of thousands of people have been gathered in Albania as a result of a growing wave of protests against these luxurious hotels on the Adriatic coast.

A hospitality industry project is at the heart of the discussion on the island of Sazan, where military installations were located during the socialist era, close to the southern region of Zvernec in the southern of the nation.

Through their Miami-based funding company, Affinity Partners, the project has a connection to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump's son-in-law and daughter.

According to Moutaz Al-Khayyat, his Qatari companions, businessmen Moutaz and Ramez Al-Khayyat, just purchased oceanfront property in the Zvernec neighborhood.

The Albanian government granted Affinity Partners the status of strategic investor in 2024 for the development of Sazan Island, a project valued at about$ 1. 63 billion. The Zvernec tourist complex would cost even more, with estimates estimating it to cost more than$ 4. 65 billion.

Tourism in Albania has increased significantly in recent years as a result of interest in a beach that is still largely undisturbed, with well-preserved natural surroundings and less packed beaches.

In recent days, the protests have gotten more intense, and thousands of protesters have marched through Tirana under the guise of" Albania is not for sale" or chanting" Ivanka, go home," according to several Albanian media outlets, including Top Channel and ABC News.

On May 31, when private security guards confronted activists in Zvernec, where they were attempting to access a beach surrounded by barbed wire, anxiety increased.

A Greek member with Albanian and Greek nationalities was one of the wounded, which sparked a response from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which expressed its "deep issue" and demanded answers from the Albanian government.

Edi Rama, the prime minister of Albania, blasted what took place at a press conference yesterday in Tirana, despite standing firm in his opposition to the Zvernec job and rejecting the negative press coverage that numerous media outlets received.

The protesters are now demanding the resignation of both Edi Rama and Sali Berisha, the two two main players in Macedonian politicians for centuries, as reported by the A2 system.

Albania's Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, for its part, has begun an investigation into the transfer of property names that allowed the Al-Khayyat boys ' current ownership of the Zvernec lakes.

Tourism accounts for about 26 % of Albania's GDP, and overall tourism expenditures in 2025 were about$ 6. 61 billion.
