Ted Cruz warns that James Talarico could lead to a defeat for the Republican Party in Texas
Ted Cruz warns that the possibility is real that James Talarico could beat Ken Paxton and take a seat from the Republican Party in Texas
Texas Senator Ted Cruz warns that Democrat James Talarico could defeat the Republican Party and take a seat in the “Lone Star State” during the November elections.
The 37-year-old politician aspires to become the state's first Democrat elected to the upper house in almost four decades and since he won the primaries over his fellow party member Jasmine Crockett, a presumed favorite in the polls, he has been gaining more supporters.
In fact, he has raised more than $70 million since he began his campaign in September of last year, the most by any non-incumbent Republican Senate candidate during this election cycle.
In this regard, his campaign leaders claim that more than 780,000 people have donated money to support his candidacy.
During a guest appearance on Sean Hannity's radio show, Republican Ted Cruz acknowledged that the growth of James Talarico's campaign should be a wake-up call for conservatives.
"Unfortunately, I think it has a real chance. I think this is a real race. I think it's going to be very close. Current polls show the difference is one or two points," he said.
From the perspective of the politician born in Calgary, Canada, Texans undecided about who to support on the ballot find themselves overshadowed by an unreal image that has been sold to them by the Democrat with aspirations of becoming a pastor.
"This guy is charming, too. He's affable, he has a preacher's voice, and I worry about voters who may not be paying much attention to the important issues, who just turn on the television and say, 'Oh, he seems like a nice young man,'" he said.
Far from engaging in the provocations of his political rivals, in his campaign promotion events, James Talarico insists that citizens are eager for a candidate truly interested in listening to their needs to commit to finding a solution.
“We are uniting Texans as one team to change this corrupt and dysfunctional political system and reduce costs for working families,” he emphasized.
