Wisconsin authorities are investigating the death of a man and his two minor daughters, whose bodies were found inside a home a few hours after a judge legally ended the divorce process between the girls' parents.

Winneconne Police reported that officers responded to the home of Jeffrey Manke, 57, on Friday, shortly before 7:00 p.m., to respond to a report of a medical emergency and conduct a welfare check.

Manke and her daughters, Jaelyn, 16, and Lenora, 11, were found dead inside the home.

So far, authorities have not reported how they died or released details about the circumstances of the case.

The divorce was made official that same day.

According to Wisconsin Circuit Court records, Jeffrey Manke and Lindsey Lewandowski had just concluded a divorce proceeding that had dragged on for nearly two years.

The court determined that the marriage was “irretrievably broken” and issued the ruling on Friday that legally dissolved the union.

As part of the ruling, both parents would retain joint custody of their daughters, while Manke was required to pay child support.

The ruling also awarded Lewandowski the family home located in the city of Oshkosh.

After the tragedy, the mother filed a motion on Monday to vacate the divorce decree. A hearing on that request is scheduled for next week.

The investigation continues

Authorities indicated that the deaths correspond to an isolated incident and stressed that the investigation is still ongoing.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office assumed leadership of the case and called on anyone with relevant information to contact investigators.

So far no possible hypotheses have been made known nor has it been reported if there are any suspects.

Family and friends began a fundraising campaign to help Lindsey Lewandowski cover funeral expenses, as well as mortgage payments, utilities and other expenses while she grieves.

In the description of the campaign, the organizers noted that the mother needs time to “process and heal” after the loss of her daughters.

They also described Jaelyn and Lenora as “kind and sweet” girls, whose faith and love for their family left a mark on those who knew them.

According to information released by those close to him, Lewandowski runs a small wood goods business from his home and plans to temporarily suspend his work activities while he faces this family tragedy.
