The US military's operation in Venezuela was criticized by members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus ( CHC ) and Democratic leaders in the House and Senate.

“We strongly condemn President Trump’s announced plans to occupy Venezuela. We have many urgent needs here at home, and President Trump’s declaration that ‘we are not afraid of troops on the ground’ demands clarity,” reads a joint statement from the Senate, led by Chuck Schumer (New York). Democrats accuse the Trump Administration of lying to Congress about its plans in Venezuela. “Having lied to Congress and misled the American people about its objectives while spending months preparing to capture Maduro, the administration must be transparent with Congress and our nation about its true plans in Venezuela,” the statement adds. “The American people deserve answers about what vital interests are at stake and how this promotes their security, something this administration has failed to provide.”

Trump's "illegitimate usage of war powers in Venezuela" was rejected by the CHC authority, who claimed that this activity would only sour U. S. alliances.

" President Trump is dressing up America's happy men and women in a risky and uncertain circumstance. " His open-ended proposal to overthrow Venezuelan government will not only harm American ' global and regional allies, but it will also damage American here, according to the CHC statement.

Democrats don't help U. S. intervention in a sovereign nation, despite acknowledging Maduro as an "illegitimate dictator. "

" Nicolas Maduro was an illegal tyrant who will not be missed by people," but we vehemently refute the notion that the US can run another sovereign nation.

They add," We know from experience that the collapse of Venezuela causes large, unrestrained, and disorderly movement in our hemisphere. In Maduro's presence, neither Trump nor Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a coherent statement about who will be in charge of "running the state," which is a sign of danger. The CHC message was signed by Andrea Salinas ( Oregon ), Darren Soto ( New York ), Sylvia Garcia ( Texas ), Joaquin Castro ( Texas ), Norma Torres ( California ), Rob Menendez ( New Jersey ), and Adriano Espaillat ( New York ), and Darren Soto ( Florida ). The Senate message was signed by Dick Durbin ( Illinois ), the Senate Foreign Relations Committee's ranking member, Chris Coons ( Delaware ), the vice chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Patty Murray ( Washington ), and the ranking member of the Senate Democratic Caucus, Chris Coons ( Delaware ). Mark Warner ( Virginia ), Jack Reed ( Rhode Island ), and Jeanne Shaheen ( New Hampshire ), the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
