A sudden, significant gust of wind struck the side of a private airplane as it was landing in Colorado on Tuesday, according to local officials.

According to the San Miguel County Sheriff's Office, the incident took place at 12:15 p. m. at Telluride Regional Airport in the northern region of the state when the aircraft lost vertical power moments after its wheels touched the ground.

Significant damage has been done to the plane

Two planes and one passenger were aboard the mid-sized Cessna 750. The helicopter skidded about 300 yards off the runway before coming to a halt on snow-covered grass, according to the official report, and its landing gear fell down.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ), the initial damage was caused by the left landing gear collapsing during landing. The head wheel and one of the feathers were likewise damaged during the brake, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities have released images that show the plane flying off the airport, with one of the arms allegedly touching the ground.

No accidents, and the aircraft was shut down.

No injuries were reported despite the violence of the event. The aircraft's inhabitants were examined by Telluride fire personnel on the field. The San Miguel County Sheriff's Office stated that "every occupant was able to return on their own and no injuries were reported," which also confirmed that there was no fireplace or smoking after the collision. The aircraft was temporarily closed after the event as a precautionary measure. The Cessna is owned by Mach. 92 Leasing LLC, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, according to FAA plane membership. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB ) announced they would launch an investigation to look into the exact causes of the accident and determine the weather conditions that affected the landing.
